This year for Christmas, David and I were unable to go back to Texas to visit family and friends. It was our second Christmas with just the two of us and, while we missed our families, it was so much fun. We slept in, started a fire in our lovely fireplace, and even had a "White Christmas." It was so much fun to keep adding to our Christmas traditions and start dreaming about future Christmas-times as our family grows!
On Christmas Eve, David and I bundled up and went to our church's Christmas Eve service. There was lots of worship, Christmas carols and a wonderful sermon about the birth of Christ. Here we are, happy to be together for our second "grown-up" Christmas! After church, we drove around to look at Christmas lights. This has been a tradition in my family for years and is easily one of my favorites. We did not have much luck, sadly, as most houses seemed to have their lights turned off. We decided it must have been because of the storm and we're hoping that Virginia steps it up next year!
Afterward, we came home and watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation which is another of my favorite traditions. David and I love watching this every year and always struggle to wait until Christmas Eve to watch it. We missed watching it with my mom, dad, and my brother, who can quote almost the entire movie, but we still had a wonderful time.
Cadbury! From our WONDERFUL friends Jordan and April! (Don't worry guys, David and I shared it. I promise!)
Taking his lead, I try a similar tactic for my presents:
We had a great Christmas this year and felt so blessed by God, our families and our friends! Thanks to everyone that reads this blog for being such great blessings in our lives! We love you all!
Merry Christmas!
