So I was listening to Tyler Read the other day, and they have a song in which they assert that only rock ‘n roll can save us now. I thought to myself, “What if rock ‘n roll really IS the only thing that can save us now??” Of course I was soon reminded that Jesus is really the only one that could ever save us. “But wait!” I thought. “What if Jesus is actually a rock star?” If so, then it is in fact true that only rock ‘n roll, through Jesus, can save us now. And so in order to form a theory of Jesus as a rock star, here is a bulleted list:
- Jesus challenged The Man (religious leaders)
- Jesus was counter-cultural (Samaritan woman)
- Jesus worked his way up from the bottom, starting as a carpenter’s son and then became a national phenomenon
- Jesus rebelled against the system (challenging common religious beliefs)
- Jesus was a champion for the “little man” (taxpayers, widows, orphans, sinners in general)
- Jesus destroy property (cleansing of the Temple)
- Jesus rocked large crowds at big outdoor venues (like Woodstock)
- Jesus had roadies (disciples)
- Jesus had groupies (Mary, Martha, various other supportive women)
- Jesus had a good manager/producer (God)
- Jesus drew inspiration from the talent that preceded him (Abraham, Moses, Elijah, the Prophets)
- Jesus’ work was appreciate long after his time, even more so than when he was on earth (kinda like Elvis)
- Jesus had harsh critics (the Pharisees)
- Jesus’ work continues to have a profound influence today on many people’s lives
- There have been and will be many imposters who try to copy Jesus’ style and claim it as their own
- Jesus is planning a comeback world tour
This is by no means meant to be a complete list, so please feel free to add or comment.

I'm sure Jesus has plenty of musical talent... he IS God, after all... but is there any record of him rocking a Palestinian Kareoke? Because that would be a cool story.
Two thumbs up for this list. :)
Great post, I love it. Jesus was hated by The Man. He even got killed. Jesus also had a famous father, like the Zappa kids and Jakob Dylan.
