What started as a simple trip to the bank to learn basic information about buying a home turned into actually and actively looking for a house. How did this happen? I'm not sure, but I blame the real estate industry for sucking us in. Once the process started (back in late January) it then turned into a long and frustrating process of looking, just barely missing out, filling out forms, and forking over large amounts of money. Nevertheless, we finally found our new home. After a closing date that took weeks to arrive and another couple weeks of renovations, we set our move date for July 4th, the day after Jonah's 1st birthday.
Steph did a lot of packing ahead of time which was very helpful. The upside to having friends and family pull off a local move is that it's much cheaper than hiring movers, like our last two moves. The downside is that we have to do a lot of work ourselves. In the above picture you can see Jonah supervising as Beesly moves at speeds approaching mach 1 in order to get things moved.
Jonah got distracted by a fan. In the background you can see me doing what is clearly the most important job- packing up the electronics.
Steph's parents were very helpful and we couldn't have pulled this off without them. For their effort they got to sleep on a luxurious air mattress.
The foreman takes a lunch break.
Jonah is making sure his goodies got packed.
There were some tickle breaks of course.
Jonah tries to escape from his Grammy.
This is dad's flatbed trailer loaded up with all our stuff. This made the move so much quicker and easier.
Of course the two guys from his crew also played a pretty big role in moving heavy things.
Our new kitchen! Look at those wood floors!
After a long day of moving, some story time was in order. (This is in our new living room.)
Here is Steph working hard on the accent for our accent wall. She got a can of glossy paint of the same paint color and added stripes. So crafty!
She's very focused....
Steve and I had to do some minor repairs to the black bookcase before installing it against the wall. This is in our dining area which is basically also the living room. Since we took the wall down, it call kind of flows together.
Working hard on setting up the new kitchen.
Overall the move was a huge success that we could not have pulled off without the love and support of our families. We are so blessed to have big, new home that we can share with others.
