Up All Night- The Growing Prysocks

Jonah's 21st Month Post

Filed under: , , , by: Stephanie

Twenty-one months! It's completely insane.  You're so close to being a two-year old and it's blowing my mind a little bit.

You're growing up so quickly and slowly all at once.  I think people that don't see you every day are noticing changes more than I am. I sometimes take for granted that you do certain things until someone else is amazed by it. You're such a sweet, smart little man!

No new teeth this month.  A few on the top have been threatening to come through but they are taking their sweet time. I think they bother you sometimes, but it's hard to tell.  You're also still wearing {mostly} size 18 month clothes and seem to wear a size 5 shoe {but really? it's hard to tell. Kids clothing/shoe sizes are nuts}.

Grammy and Pappa came down at the end of the month and brought you a swing set! Daddy and Pappa put it up the day before Easter and you are in love. The swing was your favorite at first, but then Grammy taught you how to slide all by yourself, so now you seem to love both. It's great fun watching you "swide" and "z-wing."

You're learning more and more about God, Jesus and the Bible too.  You are struggling a little bit in the nursery lately, but you still seem happy to go each week and talk about church pretty frequently.  You can point out Jesus in most of your Bible stories and it amazes me every time.  Our nighttime routine always ends with a prayer, and it's beautiful to hear you say "amen" every night.  I'm excited for the day you ask to pray instead.

Easter was a lot of fun this year.  You, Daddy and I went to a local church's Easter celebration the day before Easter and you participated in your first egg hunt with a billion other kids.  By the time you figured out what to do, most of the eggs had been claimed by bigger kids, but you still came away with about five eggs.  It was precious watching you discover each egg.

On Easter Sunday, Grammy and Pappa were here.  We tried to have an egg hunt for you in the backyard, but it was a little rainy and you seemed much more interested in the {new!} swing set. However, you were really excited about your new books and toys in your Easter basket. You especially loved all the Peeps {peep-peeps} Grammy and Pappa brought you. To say you had a bit of a sugar rush that day would be an understatement.

Our church has a 5pm service on Sundays, so we were able to have a relaxing morning and a nice Easter dinner.  Grammy helped me make a turkey breast and all the fixins.  You were pretty fixated on the mashed potatoes, but seemed to like the green bean casserole as well.  {You're still not a huge fan of meat.}

Reading is still one of your favorite pastimes. You love Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books {you call the main character "Me Too" after the first of his books we read. Adorable}. You've also developed an affinity for Clifford books.  You still love your Lift-a-Flap Bible, too.

You've also been learning even MORE letters {wetters}.  I'm not sure of the exact count, but you know way more than you don't. Letters that look similar seem to trip you up {"s" and "z", for example}. You're spotting them out in the world and not just when we play with your bathtub letters.  It's pretty cute because most of the time, you have to cycle through a few letters before you get to the one you know is right {"t, l, p, k...k! k! k!}.

You've grown to enjoy playing with blocks this month.  You've played with them before, but you get them out more and more and seem content building yourself rather than watching Daddy and I build something. It's fun watching your imagination grow and your fine motor skills get so strong.

Jonah Matthew, I love you dearly.  You are such a sweet boy and I love watching you grow up.  You're so smart and it is amazing watching you learn new things all the time.  Sometimes I completely take for granted all the things you are able to do and other times I am blown away that just a year ago you were just starting to crawl.  I am so blessed to be your mama and to witness your precious milestone. I cannot wait to see how God continues to grow you into the man He desires you to be.  I pray that you grow to love Him each day. And I pray that you always know how much Daddy and I love you.
You're my favorite Jonah ever, Jonah Matthew.  I love you.
