You're 11 months old today. Every stage is amazing, truthfully. And while I'm in it, every stage is my favorite. But right now, I'm LOVING you at this stage.
You are awesome at standing. You can stand completely on your own for minutes at a time. You have practiced walking with walker toys, but haven't really attempted to on your own yet. I think you're excited to keep up with your big brother and I'm curious to see if it will make you hit some of the milestones a little quicker.
Sleeping at night has gotten much better. You usually only wake up once {any time between midnight and 4am} and then sleep until 6:30 or 7am. A couple of times this month, you've made it the entire night {about 6:30pm-6am}, and I didn't even know what to do with myself.
Nap times are probably your least favorite thing, however. You are just not okay with being put in your crib to take a nap. Usually you protest for quite awhile before finally succumbing to sleep.
You are starting to realize how funny you are. You notice when you make us laugh and will do your "trick" over and over to elicit a smile or giggle. You also are noticing when we're excited for you. Whenever you stand unassisted, we smile and clap and you'll just stand over and over giggling the whole time. You love to have our attention.
We're still breastfeeding and things are going well. It looks like I'll hit my goal of nursing you for a full year, which I feel very lucky to do. You basically just nurse before you go to sleep {for naps and bedtime} and then once in the middle of the night. With Jonah, he self-weaned at 14 months, so I'm curious to see what you'll do.
You are wearing a lot of 12 month clothing right now and it's shocking to me every time I put you in something that Jonah used to wear. It honestly feels like Jonah wore some of these clothes just a few months ago. You're can wear a few of your 9 months clothes still, but you're so tall that none of the pants really fit.
You started paying more attention to books this month and I'm hopeful you'll love to read like we do. You like to pull books off of the shelves and have started turning pages in your books at night. You've also started trying to pull the pictures off the pages. Your big brother did it as well and I'd completely forgotten about it {so stinkin' cute}. It makes me smile and I look forward to cuddling with you during bedtime stories, watching you learn.
You just got your second tooth about a week ago. It've been hesitant to give you lots of non-pureed food because of the lack of teeth, but they seem to be coming in now! And, to be honest, the lack of teeth doesn't seem to slow you down much anyway.
Eating is probably one of your favorite things right now. You are kind of over purees {I'm not even sure why I keep trying to make them happen} and you're totally loving feeding yourself. Blueberries are always a hit. I usually can't get them to you fast enough and then I get to watch you sign "more" and grump at me until I can get a few more on your tray. It's pretty adorable, but I sure hope you learn a little more patience soon! You are also signing "all done" now. We're working on "water," but you don't seem too excited about that one.
You love your big brother so much. Thankfully, the feeling is mutual. Whenever you hear him, you always giggle and make a beeline for wherever he is. You are so patient with him when he's a little rougher than he needs to be. You love to crawl on him and play with his toys. In fact, his room is your favorite place to be. Apparently it's way cooler than your room. I didn't realize that started so early!
One of my favorite things that you do lately is shaking your head "no" at me. It doesn't always mean "no." It's often perfectly timed to make me laugh. For example, I'll give you food on your tray and you'll shake your head. So darn cute.

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)
• Says “mama” or “dada” to the correct parent — Yes. You definitely say ""mama" to me and sometimes you say "dada" to Daddy.• Plays patty-cake and peek-a-boo — You love to play peek-a-boo and sometimes cover your own eyes {usually with a blanket or towel}.
• Stands alone for a couple of seconds — Yes! You're standing unassisted all. the. time.
• Cruises —Yep!
Emerging Skills (some kids can do)
• Understands “no” and simple instructions —I would say yes. You seem to understand simply instructions like "Gideon, come here." You might understand "no," but it certainly doesn't deter you from getting into trouble. :)• Puts objects into a container —Yep.
Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)
• Says one word besides “mama” or “dada” — Not really. You babble constantly, but we haven't noticed a distinct word yet.• Stoops from standing position —Yes!
Sweet Gideon, we love you so very much. You have such a sweet spirit and bring us all such happiness. You love us all so well. You are feisty and loving and curious and I feel so blessed to be able to be your mama. You are a blessing to us and bring such joy and peace to our family. We pray that God chases after your heart and is glorified in You. Our hope for you is that you will be a "mighty warrior" for the Lord all the days of your life. You are our favorite Gideon and we can't wait to see what these next days, months, and years have in store.
