Sweet Gideon. It's completely unreal that you are one year old now. It seems completely impossible that you're so big and that we've been blessed with you for so long. The days might sometimes be long, but this year has certainly been short.
You are wearing 12 month clothes mostly. 18 month stuff is a little roomy, but mostly seems to work. I should probably start packing all your 12 month things away. Maybe I'll be emotionally ready in the next few months. Also, in growing baby boy news, you still only have two teeth. Your two bottom teeth right in the middle. You can see them when you smile {or give us your Sing Song face} and it's adorable.
You're pointing at things so much lately and it's super cute. The other day, I asked who needed a new diaper and you pointed at Jonah. It made me laugh out loud.
You love playing peek-a-boo. This month you started covering your own face to play with us. If you have a blanket or towel {or clothes or books or....anything, really} you'll cover your little eyes and then wait for us to say, "Where's Gideon?" before giggling and dropping your hands. Sometimes you get a little over-zealous and use your selected item to cover the top of your head instead of your eyes. It gets the message across though.
You've also realized how to use phones, remotes, hair brushes, combs. If you get any of those things, you immediately start trying to use them. Remotes point to the TV, phones go to your ear {or the back of your head, apparently}, and brushes get rubbed on our hair. Sometimes the bristles even are pointing the right way. We love seeing you figure things out, Little One!
You're such a sweetheart. Whenever you find a toy or something interesting to you, you always show it Mama or Daddy. You like to "share," but you like it a little more when we give you your treasure back, I think. You still love to cuddle and nuzzle into our necks when we hold you. It melts our hearts every time!
Really, one of the more exciting things is that a few days before your birthday, you REALLY started figuring out the whole walking thing. To date, you've managed to walk about 10 steps in a row. You don't do it all the time {you have to be in a pretty good mood}, but when you do, your excitement is infectious. You're so proud to be walking and so excited when you make it to Mama or Dada. Daddy thinks you'll have it all figure out and be truly walking by the end of September. I'm excited to see if he's right! {but I do kind of love your adorable crawl. So feel free to do that for as long as you want, Buddy}
Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

• Plays patty-cake and peek-a-boo — You love to play peek-a-boo, You like to cover your eyes if you're holding a towel or clothing or blanket. So cute.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

Sweet boy, we love you so much. You have blessed Jonah, Daddy, and I in ways we could never express to you. You are such a beautiful addition to our family. I say it every month, but you love us all so well. Truly, the love shines from your eyes when you look at each of us. You seem to honestly delight in each one of us and it's teaching us all how to love better. Your daddy and I pray that you will always know how loved and cherished and wanted and adored you are. But more than that, we want you to know that as limitless as our love is for you, our is a drop in the ocean of love that God has for you. We pray you love Him deeply and ferociously your whole life, Little Warrior.
