Up All Night- The Growing Prysocks

Gideon's Six Month Update

Filed under: , , , , by: Stephanie

Little one, you're six months old.  It's simultaneously hard to believe you've been with us so long and stunned to imagine life before you.  You are growing and changing and we're learning more about you each day. I'm loving soaking up each moment and also look forward to seeing who you'll become.

You're rolling over {from tummy to back} pretty easily these days.  Some times you'll fuss when we have tummy time and refuse, but most of the time you'll roll over like it's not a big deal {it's a very big deal to us, sweet boy}.  You're so very close to rolling from back to tummy.  You can roll all the way to your side before you stall out.  I'm sure it will happen soon enough.

You're sitting up like a champ as well.  Sometimes you'll throw your head back to see something behind you and topple over {which Jonah thinks is hilarious} but, for the most part, you're quite steady.  You also are obsessed with your feet.  While you're sitting up you'll frequently lean over to touch and chew on your toes.

You're still wearing 6 month clothes, but they're rather snug.  You're swimming a little in the 9 month clothes, so you're just between sizes right now.  You still don't have any teeth, but I swear they'll be here soon.  At least I hope they will!  They seem to be bothering you, as you're drooling constantly and always need to be gnawing on something lately.  It hasn't seemed to effect your mood to much; you're still a happy, smiling, giggly boy most of the time.

You are a social little guy.  We added {a lot of} new people to our home group this month and you were so sweet to everyone.  You spent the entire two hours looking at everyone and smiled so big when they looked at you.  We haven't put you in the church nursery yet, but I'm hoping your gregarious nature transfers there, too.

You love Jonah so very much.  He has able to make you laugh so easily.  Whenever he jumps around acting silly, you think it's the most hilarious thing that has ever happened.  When we sit down to dinner, you're usually watching him and find even the little things he does completely captivating.  He loves you dearly and I always feel so blessed to see you two getting along so well.  Daddy and I have been praying for that since we found out you were on your way and God has been faithful to answer our prayer.

Your sleeping is still pretty great.  You wake up once in the night to eat {between 1am and 3am, typically}, but go right back down until morning.  You're even starting to {maybe} start having a nap schedule as well!  Your two hour napping stretches are getting a little more consistent, which has been pretty great.

You're reaching for everything these days.  Just a few days ago, I caught you trying to drink out of Jonah's sippy cup that you'd somehow snagged.  You've also been reaching for food on our plates lately.  We haven't started you on solid food so far, but you're clearly ready.  I'm excited for you to have your first taste!

You're praciting saying "mama" and "dada" a lot lately.  Whenever you're less than pleased with your current situation {read: not being held}, you'll say "mamamamamama" over and over until I appear.  And whenever I'm holding you, you like to say "dadadadada." When I try to prompt you to say "mama" instead, you smile REALLY big and say "dadadadada!" You're so funny.

We had your 6 month appointment this week and the doctor said you looked great! Here are you stats:  Weight: 18 lbs 12 oz. {70%), Height: 26 3/4 in. {60%}, Head Circumference: 44.1 cm {75%}

Your blue monkey

Gideon, we are so in love with you.  Each day of these last six months has been such a blessing. You bring such a lightness and happiness to our lives.  You are so cheery and laugh so easily and we hope that these small things point to a general love of life you'll always possess.  Your sweet spirit truly does bless everyone you meet; we are all completely captivated by you.   We love learning more about you and are so excited to see who you will grow up to be.  Your daddy and I pray that you always know how deep our love is for you but more than that, we pray that you understand how dearly God loves you.  We pray that He keeps you close to Him all the days of your life; that He chases after your heart and that you love Him completely.  You are precious and we are so grateful for you, Baby Boy.
