Up All Night- The Growing Prysocks

Gideon's Seven Month Post

Filed under: , , , by: Stephanie

Oh Gideon.  Seven months.  I don't think I can handle it.  I love this stage so much and it's going by so quickly that it hurts.  But I'm soaking up each moment and celebrating every milestone.  I'm so proud of you, Littlest One.

This month you reached the adorable milestone of trying to play with my eyelashes whenever you can.  I love it because it reminds me of how new everything is for you.  Sometimes, when you're nursing lately, you'll play with my hair as well.

Your sleeping has been a little crazier this month.  You're back to waking up every 3 hours at night.  However, that's a vast improvement from waking up every hour {which you did for a few days this month as well} so we will take it.  It's our normal at the moment and we're managing it well.

Jonah is basically your favorite thing in the world lately.  You think he is hilarious and laugh at him all the time.  We started giving you guys baths together this month and he is incredibly entertaining to you.  When he isn't trying to steal bath toys from you, he's singing you songs or making silly faces.  He loves to hear you giggle and I love when you both start cracking each other up.

We started you on baby food this month.  I decided to try my hand at making it this time around and I think we all love it.  You're getting yummy homemade food, I'm getting to cook with fun produce, and Daddy loves the cost-effectiveness.  So far you've tried butternut squash, pears, apples, avocado, and banana.  You seem to like the pears the best, followed by the apples and butternut squash.  Bananas are okay, but you are basically just tolerating avocado.  I'm hoping I can make you a believer soon though.

We haven't been doing as much tummy time lately because, frankly, Jonah is a little dangerous for you at the moment.  He loves you SO much and often shows that love by laying directly on top of you or headbutting.   We still manage to get tummy time in, but it's usually pretty heavily supervised.   While you aren't crawling, you are a master at getting around.  If i let you sit on the floor, you eventually will find something you want that is far away and lunge forward until you're on your tummy.  From there, you are able to roll from back to tummy, tummy to back, and wiggle around to get where you'd like to be.  Maybe crawling isn't too far off?

You had your first Sunday in the church nursery this month.  Truthfully, you've probably been ready for quite some time.  I definitely wasn't.  I was a little nervous your first time in {especially since Jonah had such a tough time adjusting}, but I shouldn't have been.  You did amazing.  You made it through the entire service without need me and completely won the hearts of all the volunteers.  They said you were such a happy, sweet baby.

You still don't have any teeth.  I've wondered if that's why you're having a tough time sleeping lately.  Whenever you're awake, you almost always need to be chewing on something and you're a little more whiney than usual.  Poor baby.  I really hope they start coming in soon!

You're wearing 9 month clothes now.  Some of your 6 month clothes fit {shirts, more specifically.  pants are just NOT working over those delicious, chunky thighs of yours}, but I decided to just pack them away because we have a ton of 9 months clothes for you.

You love to jabber.  You still like to say "da da da da" when you're happy. and "ma ma ma ma" when you're upset.  You also love to blow raspberries whenever you're upset, which is hilarious and adorable.  Your daddy jokes that he can't take you seriously when you're mad because you're too cute.

Here's the milestone chart and where you are:

Mastered Skills
(Most kids can do)
1) Sits up unassisted:  {check!}
2) Drags objects to self:  {check!}

 Emerging Skills
(Half of kids can do)
1) Lunges forward or starts crawling:  {not really. you push up a lot, and wiggle around on your tummy, but not crawling attempts.}
2) Jabbers or combines syllables: {oh yes. you're such a talker.}
3) Starts to experience stranger anxiety: {no! and we're SO happy you don't!}

Advanced Skills
(Some kids can do)
1) Waves goodbye: {not yet}
2) Stands up unassisted: {sort of? if we stand you up and let you hold our fingers or the table, you stay up.}
3) Bangs objects together: {bangs objects on floor - yes. Together, not so much}
4) Begins to understand object permanence: {you don't get upset when we disappear from sight, so I say yes.}
