Sweet Gideon, I can't believe we've been blessed with you for eight months!
Still no teeth yet, but I've noticed two tiny white little dots in the middle of your bottom gums. I think that maybe means you're going to get them both at once, which totally explains your occasional grumpiness lately. You're still in nine month clothes. Some of them are a little tight and some of them seem a little big which, again, points to the fact that I will never understand baby sizes.
We started sleep training you last week, which has been both tough and sweet. We're learning new methods of trying to help you learn to sleep on your own. Things that worked great with Jonah haven't worked so well with you {crazy! it's like you're totally different kids!}, and I love getting extra time with you in the evenings and learning more about you. Hopefully this stage will pass quickly and you'll happily fall asleep on your own soon.
You are such a mover lately. I can set you down on the rug in the living room and come back to find you in a completely different spot. You can go from sitting to laying on your back or tummy. You can go from your tummy to sitting up. You are a master at rolling from back to tummy or tummy to back. You have been rocking a ton on your hands a knees. You've been creeping backwards since the beginning of the month. You have even started this crazy move where you stand on your feet and hands all at once. Your Uncle Matt commented that it looks like you're doing some sort of crazy yoga move {kind of a downward-facing dog variation}. It's only a matter of time before you're truly crawling and, to be honest, I'm both so excited and totally not ready for it {though, in interest of full disclosure, I'm writing this a few days after your 8 month 'birthday' and you've technically crawled a whole foot. Yay!}
You love food and love to eat almost anything we give you. I finally started giving you puffs at the end of the month and you love them. It's adorable watching you concentrate so hard when you attempt to pick them up. And I love how excited and proud you seem whenever you manage to get one into your mouth without help. We also bought you a meshed feeder you can use. We've put mostly bananas in it and you love it. You get so excited when you see it!
I haven't been as consistent about signing with you so far. I try to always sign "eat" and "more." I can tell you recognize them even though you can't quite sign them yet. When I sign "eat," your whole face lights up. And when I say "more" you smile and wiggle happily. The other day, you started banging on your table after each bite which makes me wonder if it was your attempt to let me know what you want.

Gideon, we love you so much. Your sweet personality, coos, and giggles bring us all such joy. You love us so well and we are incredibly blessed to have you. We learn more and more about you each day. We love knowing what songs or silly faces will make you smile. I love knowing just how to comfort you when you're upset {usually snuggles} or what foods you love. We're so happy to have the chance to become experts on you. You are our favorite Gideon. We love you to the moon and back, baby boy.
