Up All Night- The Growing Prysocks

Man vs. Bachelorhod, Round 2: Day 4

Filed under: by: David and Stephanie

Yesterday I watched Dune for the first time. I rented the extended edition from Netflix, but I have no idea what that means since this is my first go. The whole thing is very complex and nerdy and sci-fi-ey. I'm not even sure I got all of it myself, but I was intrigued enough to check out the books sometime. The acting was average and the plot was confusing. The effects weren't bad, but it's hard to be a judge of the special effects in 80's movies when we're living in the Avatar era. But enough of that! I'm not going to bore you with my lame review of a movie that even I barely understand. Instead I'd like to point out all the actors I recognized. There were a lot of "Hey it's _____ from _____!!" moments when I watched it. It's even more entertaining because they're in crazy costumes in this movie. So here's the cool people in this movie!!

Captain Professor Jean-Picard Xavier!

......this guy! From Das Boot!

That guy from Minority Report!

.......CRAZY EYEBROWS!!!

But when things get too crazy, the police are on the scene.....

Don't stand so close to him

Kindergarten Cop lady!

Grima Wormtongue......with CRAZY EYEBROWS!!

That guy from Quantum Leap!

Fun Fact: Dune was the breakthrough performance for the giant worm who went on to play the graboid in Tremors. (How many times will I reference graboids on this blog??)

So there's my roundabout review of Dune which tells you almost nothing about the movie. I did run across something like a review of Dune, it breaks down the high points of the movie in layman's terms. The link is below but WARNING: this link contains major plot spoilers and rampant graphic language. ---->Dune Review

The general consensus around this movie is that it's very hard to understand what's going on. You know what else is difficult to understand? The song Africa by Toto. What are they talking about??? So it makes complete sense that the Dune soundtrack was made by......Toto! Movie soundtrack band choice FTW!

In honor of Toto, today's song is Africa by Toto. You can sing it in a karaoke bar all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that nobody knows what the heck you're singing about.
